I'm in the midst of Equipping Session 6 week - although it's a bit topsy turvy this time. We swopped the Saturday session (that is usually at the end of the week) to the beginning to allow for people to go to Youthwork the Conference down in Eastbourne. Adolescent and Faith Development has been our topic this time and concludes Year 1 of the course, which is quite scary! Time flies when you're having fun and this has certainly been a highlight of 2008. 2009 publicity, dates and venues are all available now, so do contact me if you'd like some flyers sending out, or check the website.
Whilst the busy-ness of Equipping keeps me occupied, I am also dealing with a poorly family; both Matilda and Andy have chest infections...yuk! Seperate beds for a while for me and the hub as his coughing was vomit inducing!!
Alongside that, Andy continues with his Street Pastor training in Chelmsford and is due to have his first night on the streets on 12th December...exciting stuff and something he has been yearning for for some time, finding that active expression of kingdom work out there in the world and not confined to the church setting. Please pray for him.
Matilda turns 2 in less than a month - prompting quite some reflection for us, as I think always happens at such significant times. I'll confess to finding toddler-world frustrating and exhilarating all at the same time - her language, abilities, maturity etc is all developing before our eyes, but so is her independence and therefore her frustration at what she can't do! She has a great whine and a very particular way of doing things - like sitting on a certain seat or how she plays with her toys. It's funny and infuriating! I have a new sympathy and empathy for parents who deal with toddler tantrums in public after our spectacular one on Saturday in Chelmsford when we didn't allow Matilda to go on the Christmas merry go round...I'll not go into detail but it wasn't pretty!
We have a weekend off this weekend - nothing on apart from Street Pastors training on Saturday so lots of family time which will be great after having had a week out of the house every night! We're both looking forward to taking our Giraffe 15+ group away for the weekend 28-30 November to Woodland Camp near Romford for fun, worship, zip wire, and some crazy times!! Again, pray for us!
PS. Thanks to Alex for the encouragement of having me on his blog feed and for listening to my sermon online the other week - at least one person reads me! x
I read you too!!...
