Been doing some writing of resources today for a series of training sessions the Youth Advisers are doing in the new academic year.
It's a key area of constant change which we need to keep ahead of and we're rolling out some training in late 2010 and 2011 for all those who wish to develop their understanding. (scroll down for dates and contacts)
In the meantime:
The www.thinkuknow.co.uk has some excellent resources available for a number of age groups as well as for parents and carers.
www.wiredsafety.org is an international site with resources and education for kids and their carers - youthworkers included.
www.ikeepsafe.org is constantly updating it's material, again, great for kids and parents/leaders alike.
Or just put Child Internet Safety into Google and you'll see what's out there.
Training:
Would you like to enhance your understanding of issues around Content, Contact and Conduct whilst online?
Would you like to gain an understanding of how young people are using technology?
Would you like to gain valuable skills to pass onto your young people, leaders and the wider community to enjoy using the Internet as well as being cautious with it?
If the answer is yes, come along to an
Internet Safety Training Day on Tuesday 23rd November from 10-4pm in Rayleigh.
Please email me on youthadviseralice@yahoo.co.uk to book your place on this much requested course.
If you would like to attend a shorter evening session, please email Andy Poultney on barkingandy@btconnect.com for his range of dates in 2010 and 2011.
